Anxiety Self Help requires self diagnosis and then befriending  the Anxiety

Anxiety self help can never be as precise as for depression. So it may well be that external help will be necessary – as long as it is the right kind of help.

The strategy of this self help for anxiety page is to invite you to do as much as you can on your own but also to discover more precisely what it is that is at the heart of the problem for you.

I set the scene on this anxiety self help page and direct you to what you need on this site.

You will also see links to more information on relevant Breakthrough Audio Programmes.

The five steps to your anxiety relief and anxiety self help

Step one is to immerse yourself in understanding what anxiety is.

And the role invariably played by the trauma like firing in the limbic system (or more precisely the amygdale).

The REWIND Method will clear trauma – hypnotherapy at its very best

Step two of anxiety self help is to identify the trauma or traumas.

The source of the  uncontrollable firing of the flight response.

It may be obvious to you  – an abuse, an accident, or an awful panic attack. It might though be more subtle such as an extended period of loneliness  that you have almost forgotten.

Step three of anxiety self help will be learning relaxation techniques and methods.

You need to practise and so gain some mastery.  The purpose is to keep arousal as low as possible so that you are less at risk from boiling over.

Step four is to discover what are the precise sources and patterns of your anxiety.

This is by awareness and note-taking and a careful reading of the various anxiety pages on this site including panic attacks, PTSD, phobias and Generalised Anxiety Disorder.

Step five is to make friends with your anxiety and to remove its power over you.

The building of that better relationship with anxiety is normally, after de-traumatising the most important element of anxiety healing – as your relationship with fear/anxiety will be unhealthy.
